May 31st - June 4th

 Bonjour Chers Parents,

Another great week, full or learning, laughing, dancing and fun coming to a close!

We have had a great, hot week, learning all about the world around us and celebrating our classmates!
Students have enjoyed searching for different 3D shapes and learning all about their different characteristics. Did you know it's difficult to build anything on top of a cone? Also, a kleenex box is 3 dimensional! (le prisme rectangulaire- in french!)
What 3D shapes can you spot at home? Or perhaps while driving around Calgary?

New and Exciting!
-Seeds: students have taken home pea and sunflower seeds, a tattoo, a cup as well as soil. (PM will on Friday)
Please feel free to plant them in the provided cup or in your garden! If students would like to send in photos, we can compare progress with those we'll be growing in class! What are ideal conditions for different plants to grow?
*See photos for seeds we will be planting (if you would like some for home, just send me an email-there will be extra!)

-Morning activities: As students arrive in class and settle in to their day, they have independent "centers" to allow them to transition smoothly, self-regulate and practice learning concepts as well. Every week there is a new center added as well as the "alpha book" introduced during online learning that remains a constant. Feel free to ask your child about the fun stacking they got to do this week!

-Our song of the week is all about "les formes en 3 dimension"!

-Painting with nature: See our art for the week. Can you guess what was used to paint each art work?

-We continue to practice recognizing our alphas in a variety of writing, including our morning message, friends names, books we read, words we learn etc. Our main focus at this time is reading syllables within words (beginning especially) with alphas we recognize. (madame, banane, samedi etc) We have also realized that some Alphas are silent and some even make different sounds ("c" can also sound like "s", "g" can also sound like "j" etc.)

Important dates/ Reminders:

*please see Star Of The Day schedule if you have not presented yet
