We had such a busy week this week! We started learning about Remembrance day and why people wear poppies for the month of November. The kids have been working hard on creating a project for the virtual Remembrance Day assembly-it will be added to the Blog on November 10th.   We have also started to learn vocabulary for Remembrance Day like un coquelicot and un soldat. We will be continuing this next week. We have also been working on counting backwards from 10 and recognizing numbers 1-5 out of order in French. We will be working on recognizing numbers on a number line, in a ten frame, in dot form and in tally form.  Starting on Monday, we are so lucky to have a student teacher joining us from  U of C. She will be here to help and support all of our kiddos until December 12th. October 19th-23rd This week we had lots of fun learning Halloween vocabulary. We practice saying these words in full sentences using the sentence starter " Je vois.......". We used our scariest voices to say each sentence. I have attached the picture we used to help prompt ideas. Can your kiddo point out any new words they learned this week?   We also made mini Halloween Math books that the kids really want to take home. I promised they could bring them home on Halloween. For these books the students had to pick numbers from 1-10 and pick a Halloween word to go with it. We are practicing saying the numbers only in French, and using strategies to figure out the more difficult numbers. We have been working on counting the pictures on the page in French, counting on our fingers, using a number line and even using the numbers on the calendar to help us.  *School pictures have been sent home. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! This week we continued to focus on Fall vocabulary. We then wrote a class book using this vocabulary and incorporated our trip to the Coulee in our drawings.  We are almost finished our vowels. We are done A,I,O and U and will finish up Y and e / é next week. We have been working hard at making the sound of each of these letters and listening for it in different French words and stories. Look through your new library books together, can your child pick out any of these letters and make the sound? October 29th:   On October 29th students can wear their Halloween costumes to school. If the costume comes with any form of weapon please keep those at home.  On the 29th we will also be having our Pumpkin Fest. You are invited to bring a pumpkin to school that is decorated however you wish. Our class will not have a theme for the pumpkin decorating, just be creative and I cannot wait to see them!!! This week we started learning all about Fall.  We discussed signs of Fall and learned new vocabulary in French so we can start describing what we see in French. We worked on the sentence starter "pendant l'automne je vois........" so we can practice speaking in full French sentences.  We had a beautiful day in the Coulee this week.  We sketched different signs of Fall that we saw around us and saw lots of birds and squirrels. We also heard a story from our Blackfoot elder Sa'akokoto and even got to explore the creek.  We will be going to the Library next Wednesday. One book will be sent home with the kids in their backpack. They get to keep the book for one week, then they will return it where it will be quarantined .  * I know snacks and lunches can be very challenging.                                                                        Welcome to our Blog!  This week we have finished learning all about Primary Colors and why they are so special. We then mixed all our primary colors together in different combinations to see what Secondary colors we could create. Brown was the hardest color to make because we needed to mix all three primary colors together!  We have been also working on understanding number 1-10 in French and then representing them in different ways.
