January 25th-28th

January 25th-28th  We talked a little about Le Carnaval this week, and are getting ready to meet Bonhomme next week.  Tuesday, Feb 2nd we will be learning how to play the spoons Wednesday, Feb 3rd we will be snowshoeing  Monday, Feb 8th we will be building an ice castle Tuesday, Feb 9th we will be going sliding  * for the ice castle, milk cartons will work as well as juice cartons. As long as it is a rectangular shape and not rounded. * Here is the song we have been learning: This week we worked on the letter "Vv- le vent". We focused on the sound difference between "V" and "F" and started doing consonant/vowel blends like "Li,Va, Vi". Can your child name any words that have the sound "V" in French? We also continued our work with number bonds. We are practicing how to break apart numbers into smaller parts using manipulatives and as a step further how to represent them using an equation.  January 18th-22nd *As a school, we have decided  not to have a valentines day exchange this year.   There will be a school wide message sent to parents tomorrow. * This week we discussed the Circle of Courage. We focused on Independence and talked about things that they might want to learn to do by themselves. We had so many great ideas from learning to bake cookies, learning to ride a bike with two wheels and learning to skate without help.  We also met Le Nez. We are learning to isolate sounds within words, and practiced identifying if a sound was in the beginning, middle or end of a word.  We have also been practicing how to clap out syllables.  We have finished off our unit on Shapes! We should now be able to identify most of the shapes in French and also names some of the characteristics that go with with each shape.  I am looking for some volunteers to help make some extra play dough for the class. I will be happy with any color and any amount. ...

January 11th-15th This week we have been learning all of our shapes in French. We have also been looking at each shape and saying what we notice about them ex :does it slide or roll? How many sides does it have? We also created different pictures using shapes and created different thing using clay and toothpicks.   Here is the song we have been listening to this week to help us learn all the different names of some shapes:  We worked hard on the letter S ( le serpent)  . We are working on finding French words that have that sound in them.
