October 19th-23rd


This week we had lots of fun learning Halloween vocabulary. We practice saying these words in full sentences using the sentence starter " Je vois.......". We used our scariest voices to say each sentence. I have attached the picture we used to help prompt ideas. Can your kiddo point out any new words they learned this week?  

We also made mini Halloween Math books that the kids really want to take home. I promised they could bring them home on Halloween. For these books the students had to pick numbers from 1-10 and pick a Halloween word to go with it. We are practicing saying the numbers only in French, and using strategies to figure out the more difficult numbers. We have been working on counting the pictures on the page in French, counting on our fingers, using a number line and even using the numbers on the calendar to help us. 


*School pictures have been sent home. Retakes will be on October 28th. Current orders need to be  returned to the school, or submitted to Lifetouch by November 2nd *

* Lunches are so hard, and I am so sorry to make it even harder. Please remember we do have nut allergies- nutella, almond/cashew butter, peanuts are not recommended for school. WOW butter can still be used.  

Don't forget next Thursday, October 29th, is our Pumpkin Fest. Please bring your pumpkins to school and place them in our class "patch". We will also be dismissing from our pumpkin patch to make it easier for everyone to take their pumpkins home. The kids can also wear their Halloween costume to school on Thursday!

I would like to send a giant welcome to Mme Caroline. I will be sending out an email tomorrow with her introduction, I have no doubt she will be an amazing addition to our kinder family.  With that being said we are also saying goodbye to Mme Lynley, we wish her nothing but the best moving forward!! I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing break, I cannot wait to hear all about it when we come back in January. This week we have been practicing how to decompose numbers using number bonds. We looked at how many different ways we could break down each number and practiced how to fill in number bonds using dominos. This activity went home in their math bags today- we will be doing this activity on January 6th, so no need to start until we are learning online. The kids also made tree ornaments for you using Shrinky Dinks. They traced their hands and decorated them like Santa.  We had so much fun this week watching the Winter Celebration, wearing our festive wear and wearing our PJ's.  Important dates: December 18th - No school January 4th - No school

Bonjour chers parents, We have had a fantastic first few days together, here in kindergarten! Lots of fun, learning, growth and laughs have been shared! I very much look forward to the next two months, where the students and I will get to know each other better, and continue our learning and growing together! New and Exciting! -We have been discussing weather during our morning routine and have added the job of "météorologue" to our calendar routine!
