June 7th to 11th

Bonjour Chers Parents,

Another great week, full or learning, laughing, dancing and rain (and dancing int he rain!) coming to a close! 

New and Exciting! 

-We continue to practice recognizing our Alphas in a variety of writing, including our morning message, friends names, books we read, words we learn etc. Our main focus at this time is reading syllables within words (beginning and ending especially) with alphas we recognize. (madame, banane, samedi, mardi, rouge etc) We have also realized that some Alphas are silent and some even make different sounds ("c" can also sound like "s", "g" can also sound like "j" etc.)

-We are exploring ending sounds through rhymes as well! A fun way to work on this at home is through songs and exploring words that rhyme with our name! "Caroline monte la coline en jouant la mandoline" (some are easier than others!!)

-Math games continue to be part of learning time in class, and are a great way to practice number recognition, subitizing and math fluency. We continue to practice the idea of "avant et après" which translates to "one more" and "one less" when counting! 

Important dates/ Reminders: 

*Please send an email my way if your child will not be present the last day of school (June 28th). This will ensure I have time to prepare everything so your child goes home with all their school work! Thanks!
  • June 18th- PM Kindergarten
  • Library- This week was students last library for the 2021 school year. If you have library books at home, please send them back to school. If you are unsure if you have library books overdue, please send me an email.
  • We will continue to spend time outside frequently. Please ensure your child has a water bottle and appropriate clothing and footwear to join us in our play!
  • Please send your child to school with an egg carton or two. We will be using these for crafts beginning Wednesday the 16th.

I would like to send a giant welcome to Mme Caroline. I will be sending out an email tomorrow with her introduction, I have no doubt she will be an amazing addition to our kinder family.  With that being said we are also saying goodbye to Mme Lynley, we wish her nothing but the best moving forward!! I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing break, I cannot wait to hear all about it when we come back in January. This week we have been practicing how to decompose numbers using number bonds. We looked at how many different ways we could break down each number and practiced how to fill in number bonds using dominos. This activity went home in their math bags today- we will be doing this activity on January 6th, so no need to start until we are learning online. The kids also made tree ornaments for you using Shrinky Dinks. They traced their hands and decorated them like Santa.  We had so much fun this week watching the Winter Celebration, wearing our festive wear and wearing our PJ's.  Important dates: December 18th - No school January 4th - No school

Bonjour chers parents, We have had a fantastic first few days together, here in kindergarten! Lots of fun, learning, growth and laughs have been shared! I very much look forward to the next two months, where the students and I will get to know each other better, and continue our learning and growing together! New and Exciting! -We have been discussing weather during our morning routine and have added the job of "météorologue" to our calendar routine! Students have learned words such as "pluvieux" (rainy), "ensoleillé" (sunny), "venteux" (windy), "nuageux" (cloudy), "enneigé" (snowy) etc. Here is a song we use to accompany our learning:  -Many new activities have been introduced to our center time this week!
